About this Site

Being a web site owner myself I often find myself squatting up on something or other whenever I'm looking for ideas and inspiration for my next project. I don't claim to be a professional web designer, script writer or whatever title you can dream up for someone that likes to build web sites; but I do have my own experiences at being a web site owner and this is what it is that I want to share with you by creating and maintaining this site.

This site is the direct result of me wishing to share my knowledge with anyone who may find it useful. At first, I would answer email requests for help in getting the code for their own pages to work. When I started to get the same questions again and again, I though it would be a good idea to put together a site that I could refer people to that would help them to help themselves. This is the result of my research and experiences.

Most of the articles here are my own work, and I would like to keep them as such since many are based on my own experiences of being a site owner. If you would like to use some of them in your own publications, web sites etc. then please refer to my conditions of use for more information about doing so. I do try to explain things to the best of my ability, but if you know of any inaccuracies or corrections that need to be made, please contact me with details and I will deal with it as soon as is conveniently possible.

If you would like to submit articles for publication at this site, full credit will be given for your work. Translations of my own articles would also be welcomed if anyone has the time and feels that it would be useful. I do not require any exclusivity of any original work you wish to contribute for use at WebSite-Owner.com; you will maintain all copyrights to the work and can ask me to remove it at any time. Translators who are interested in translating my articles, please refer to the conditions of use page specifically for translators for further details and restrictions of use.

Often I may refer to my other site, a.k.a Tiggy's Site Collection, in my examples; this is because several of the articles were hosted at that site until the server crashed and I decided it was time to move the ever growing web help section that I had there.

About the Author

For those of you interested in learning more about me, then here is a bit of my background as it were. My name is Rosemarie Wise. I have a strong interest in web application development, and despite having got a BSc in Computer Science at Lancaster University (2001) I am mainly self taught in most of the web technologies that I use.

Since I am working full time in a warehouse to pay off all my student debts, I have limited time to work on my various sites. Looking after and improving my web sites is my full time hobby and my ideal job would be developing web applications; but I don't have the confidence in myself to loose the regular income that my current job brings and so it is still only a hobby of mine.

My interest in the internet began in December 1997 when I got Catz for Christmas, the program packaging encouraged me to get onto the internet and share my Catz with the world. The result was the site that has grown to be Tiggy's Site Collection. About a year later my ISP started to offer CGI with their hosting accounts and as I learned about the site maintenance techniques possible with Perl, I taught myself Perl; mainly through trial and error.

Since then my interest has transferred to ASP as it became more and more visible on the web. I have dabbled a bit with PHP but most of my personal library consist of books on Perl, ASP or Web Design in one way or another. Perhaps I should have bought shares in O'Reilly because I can't seem to get enough of their books; three-quarters of my book collection have been published by them!

Thats it from me, Rosemarie, the owner of this domain. Thanks for dropping by and I hope that you find this site helpful. Comments, constructive criticism and suggestions for new content and topics are always welcome!
