Conditions of Using this Web Site

A lot of the written work on this web site is my own, therefore I wish to maintain my copyrights for the work. However, I am only a single individual with limited time and money - so I do not have the resources available to pursue any copyright infringement that I come across. This does not mean however that you may take my work and call it your own - it is just not ethical for you to do so... after all, in most cases you will not have to pay to use my resources.

There are few general rules to the use of the information that I own the copyright to, which I will outline here. These apply to all users that are browsing, printing or referring to my original material found at this site, but are specifically targeted to individuals and not for profit organizations. More detail on usage of the material at this web site for specific circumstances, such as anyone wishing to translate my articles or wishing to make money from them, are dealt with elsewhere in these terms and conditions.

Disclaimer

I am not what some might call a professional designer, rather, I prefer to describe myself as a web enthusiast. All of my original work is based on my own experiences and research and as such may be biased in the image that they project. I have limited or no experience in some of the newest technologies such as Flash, DHTML and rich media. This is because I wanted my site to be accessible to as many people as possible and at the time I started to build web sites, browsers that did not fully support such technologies were a significant percentage of those in use.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say here is that you should not take everything I say as if it were set in stone. No doubt there will be some flaws in my logic or errors that may have slipped the net, I am only human after all! If you notice anything that is questionable or incorrect, please email me and let me know so that I can do more research or whatever else to fix the problem.

Electronic Reproduction

I will not allow any site to distribute my work within 90 days of the original publication without my written permission. This applies to all work completed or modified after March 2002.

Web Sites: Individuals and not for profit organizations may freely use articles on their own web sites without first asking for my permission, such articles however, must be freely available to the public via the Internet. All I ask for is that proper credit is given and that you link back to the site (from the page that contains my work) so that your visitors can read some of my other work if they feel it worthwhile. You must not, however neither infer nor imply that my articles are your own work. An email letting me know which articles you have used and where would be appreciated, but are not necessary (I may even link back to you, you never know).

Newsletters: Individuals and non profit organizations may also wish to publish my work in their own free to subscribe to news letters, which is permitted providing that the resource box (found at the bottom of this page) is included at the end of the article and that full copies of any news letters articles are used in are sent to me for reference. This is just so that if someone decides to contact me after seeing my work in a newsletter I don't subscribe to, I am not surprised to learn that they saw my article in your newsletter.

Other: Any other forms of electronic reproduction and distribution of my original work is strictly prohibited without prior approval. This includes, but is not limited to the posting of articles in news groups news groups or on message boards of any kind. If you wish to share one of my original articles with a particular person or community, you may provide them with the URL of the original work here at WebSiteOwner.info.

If you wish to use my work in a non publicly accessible area of your site (for example a members area or Intranet), or you wish to use it on a web site or newsletter that generates considerable revenue, then please contact me with further details and I will be willing to discuss the idea.

Printing and Copying

You may print out and photocopy as many copies of any of my original articles as you like, so long as it is for your own personal use and reference only. The style sheets have been designed to be printer friendly, so printouts should be cleaned of unwanted links and advertising; however, should you experience problems you can get a printer friendly version of the page by adding "?print" to the URL in your browsers address bar. There are also full printable versions of the guides we feature, the links for which will appear between the back and next document links at the bottom of the text on appropriate pages.

If you wish to reproduce any of my work in print for inclusion in training documents or publications for sale, please contact me with further details and I will consider each request on its merits.

Derivative Works

If you wish to publish my work on your site you may decide to make it fit in with look any feel of your own site. Stylistic changes such as fonts, colors and navigational features may be made without prior permission. Changes of examples or wording are not permitted without permission. If you wish to add to or edit any of my work for use on your own site or in your own news letters, please let me know.

Translations of my articles are welcomed, however as translated articles are derivative works there are a few things I would ask that translators do to help to preserve my copyright on the work. If you are interested in translating my work found at this site, then please contact me so that we can discuss specific arrangements.

Educational Use

If you would like to reproduce some of my work in print for educational or training use (such as company courses etc), then please contact me with details. I will not disallow such use, but I would like to know how my articles are being used and if there are any charges to be made (in general, if the course is free and open to the public then there will be no charge requested).

Other Information

Here is the information text I would like you to use whenever you republish an article from my site without my prior permission. You are required to use it when publishing in a newsletter of any description, but it is optional for web sites so long as you provide details of my full name (Rosemarie Wise) along with an active link to the original article or my homepage on my site as a minimum.

The author, Rosemarie Wise, is a self proclaimed "web enthusiast" who set up her site, Web Site Owner to share her experiences of being a site owner.

It is recommended that you link to the original document and provide details of the date of the copy you are using, as I may make minor but significant changes. You can find date information about a particular content page at the bottom of the page it is refering to.
